Merrell Shoes burst onto the scene in 1981 in the Green Mountains of Vermont, and since then Merrell has been providing outdoor enthusiasts with quality performance footwear. The History Of Merrell Shoes

It's 1981 in Vernal, Utah. Randy Merrell has an idea for a hiking boot and a dream is born. Randy's boot is voted "most comfortable and functional in North America" by Backpacker Magazine. Each handcrafted boot costs $500 to make and the waiting list for them reaches 6 months. The following year, the Bank of Vermont says yes to Merrell shoes and invests in the fledgeling company.

The rest, as they say, is history. The company experienced massive growth and in 2007 Footwear Plus magazine awarded Merrell a Design Excellence Award for Outdoor Footwear Brand of the year. For the fifth year in a row.

The History Of Justin Boots

H.J. Justin left Lafayette, Indiana with a dream in his heart to start a new life in Spanish Fort, Texas. Justin started his career as a boot repairman but soon began his own boot company running it in his home. The business saw an opportunity and moved to Nocona, Texas in 1889 when a new railroad was built there.

In 1908, H.J.'s sons (John and Earle) came to work for him, and the company was renamed H.J. Justin and Sons. In 1910, a pair of Justin Boots would set you back $11 - no measly some in those days. At that time you could get them in 26 states, Cuba, Mexico and Canada.

When their father died in 1918, John and Earle took over the running of the Justin Boots business and in 1925 they moved the headquarters to Fort Worth.

Timewent by and John Justin Jr purchased a controlling interest in the company in 1948. Suddenly Justin Boots were growing again.

Let's turn the clock forward to the year 2000. In August, Justin Boots was purchased by one of Warren Buffet's companies - Berkshire Hathaway. Now with a talented management team, strong financial backing and their enduring tradition of quality, Justin Boots is stronger than ever.

What Makes Earth Shoes Unique?

The History Of Clarks Shoes
